ACMap is a free, crowd-sourced map of public air-conditioned and cooling spots. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to remove it.
What we collect
- Email address — to verify you once (via a one-time code or Sign in with Google/Apple) so you can add and confirm pins. It is stored with the pins you contribute.
- Approximate location — read on your device, only when you allow it, to center the map on you and to place a pin near you. We store the coordinates of pins you drop, not a history of where you are.
- Contributions — the cooling spots you add and the “still here / gone” votes you cast, plus a coarse IP address used only to rate-limit abuse.
How we use it
Only to run the map: verifying contributors, showing pins, preventing spam and abuse. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising profiles, and we do not share it with third parties except the infrastructure that delivers the service (email delivery via Resend; Google/Apple only when you choose to sign in with them).
Retention & deletion
Login codes and rate-limit records expire automatically. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from the app: sign in, then choose Delete account. This removes your email, your verification records, and your unpublished submissions, and strips your email from any public pins you added. You can also email [email protected] and we will handle it.
Children
ACMap is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
